FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Four months after No Kings 2.0 drew thousands of Northwest Arkansas residents to Rogers to demonstrate their opposition to the Trump administration’s abuses, leaders of Indivisible NWA are calling on all who care about freedom and democracy to join the upcoming No Kings 3.0 demonstration on Saturday, March 28, in Fayetteville.
This peaceful protest, one of twelve across Arkansas and one of thousands planned nationwide, is scheduled to run from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. downtown. We will gather on N. Highland Avenue and on N. East Avenue, near their intersection with Dickson Street, and will march down Dickson towards the Upper Ramble. There we will gather in solidarity and joy, enjoying inspiring remarks from community leaders, music, learning about how to get involved with multiple community organizations, and defending 250 years of American progress.
The event will happen rain or shine, but participants should be mindful of the weather. Indivisible NWA requests that participants register online to receive timely updates and help ensure the event goes smoothly.
Since last year’s protests in June and October, President Donald Trump has continued to invade multiple American cities, with masked immigration removal agents seizing people of all legal statuses, murdering two peaceful bystanders, detaining tens of thousands of children and adults across the country with little or no due process, and planning to create more concentration camps.
Beyond immigration, the Trump administration is also creating chaos overseas, indiscriminately killing unidentified people in boats in international waters, illegally attacking countries, including Venezuela and now Iran, killing hundreds of children and families, and causing economic disruption and alarm here and around the world. Daily life has become more expensive and jobs are at a historic low, all while the Trump family rakes in billions of dollars from us taxpayers. Accountability to the people is disregarded. Seizing more power by all means at its disposal and becoming even richer are the key agenda items of this regime.
Trump and his followers attack every day the founding principle of this nation that their power comes from We The People. March 28 will be another history lesson for them. We will show up stronger than ever before, sending a powerful message that we will not be silent in the face of the criminality, complicity, and corruption we witness every single day.
“We invite the entire NWA community to join us in celebrating this country’s founding ideals of liberty, justice and democracy,” said Lisa Childs, one of the event’s organizers.
“There are no actions more inspiring and effective than a community coming together peacefully but powerfully to oppose oppression, cruelty, and lawlessness,” said fellow organizer Maritza I. Munich.
